Fire Fighting Training

M&O Pacific are leaders in the field of Fire Safety and Fire Fighting Training. From home and office fire safety, to Emergency Response Team training for large industrial fires, there is no substitute for practical experience in dealing with live fire.

We use specialist live fire training facilities to incorporate extensive practical fire scenarios with background theory and discussions to ensure that trainees are as prepared as possixble for the fires they may encounter. We can conduct courses at our established Live Fire Training Centre or come to you with our Mobile Fire Training Truck.

Live Fire Training Centre - Oaonui

This is the only live fire training pad in NZ able to simulate large petrochemcial fires, and includes eight pressure fed fire props, smokehouse, high pressure ring main and many flexible options for fire fighting training. The Training Centre includes classrooms, trainees PPE and all fire training equipment for the full range of M&O Pacific fire fighting courses.

Mobile Fire Training Truck

We come to you with this fully enclosed fire training facility, which is able to simulate a range ofhome, office, electrical and worksite fires.

All of our fire extinguisher courses can be conducted at your workplace, anywhere in NZ, with all smoke and fire extinguisher materials contained within the truck.

Fire Fighting Courses

Fire Team Member – 3 day course

Trainees will be instructed in skills and knowledge to operate effectively as a member of a fire fighting response team. This course includes co-ordinated fire attack using different extinguishing mediums, communicating as a team, and the use of breathing apparatus in a team environment. The focus is on quick response and rescue, with minimal manpower techniques.

Fire Team Leader – 1 day course

Additional to the Fire Team Member course, this course teaches fire team leaders how to lead an emergency response team into a variety of situations. You will cover recognition of hazards and identification of the appropriate actions to control them, decisions on team tactics and the identification of equipment for the situation at hand.

Wear & Operate Breathing Apparatus – 2 day course

Trainees are taught to competently and confidently wear and operate breathing apparatus (BA) in a toxic atmosphere, including donning and doffing of BA, identification and control of hazards associated with BA use and practical experience working in a darkened smoke filled environment.

Road Transport Emergency Response – 2.5 day course

Designed for the trucking and transport industry, this course combines basic fire fighting techniques with fire extinguishers and hose reels with first aid and emergency medical response skills. The final half day is devoted to comprehensive scenario based training involving realistic accident scenes with vehicles, fire and patients to attend to.

Mobile Fire Fighting Training

We Come To You With...

Hands on practical training on how to manage a fire in your office, workplace, vehicle and home. There is no substitute for practical experience when dealing with live fires, and on our courses everyone gets the chance to extinguish a real fire.

M&O Pacific are the professional fire safety trainers, with NZQA approved courses to suit everyone and every need. All courses include practical and theoretical training to ensure participants have the skills and confidence to know what to do in the case of a fire.

Mobile Fire Training Unit

We come to you with our fully self contained training unit, which can be used to simulate a large range of home, office and industrial fires. This environmentally friendly training facility contains all fire, smoke and extinguisher residue, meaning it can be setup almost anywhere... carparks, lawns, warehouse etc.

Full Range of Fire Extinguishers

Courses can include training in how to use Dry Chemical, CO2, Foam and Water Extinguishers, plus fire hoses and fire blankets, so that you know what equipment to use on a wide range of possible fire scenarios.

Flexible Site Specific Training

Training courses can readily be adapted to suit the specific hazards and fire training needs of your people and your environment, and can be designed to teach and assess relevant NZQA Unit Standards. All participants have the opportunity to extinguish a live fire.

Fire Safety Courses

Fire Science & Extinguishers – 1/2 to 1 day course

This one day course covers the principles of fire science, fire classification and recognising the correct extinguishing medium for each type of fire. Practical scenarios focus on the correct application techniques for a variety of extinguishers, fire blanket and fixed hose reels, and gives all trainees the opportunity to use all types of extinguisher. Half day courses can be conducted to include just the practical elements of fire extinguisher use.

Fire Warden / Building Warden – ½ day course

This course is suited to people nominated as the Fire or Building Warden in their place of work, and aims to provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to competently evacuate a building in the case of a fire or other emergency. Theory and practical sessions will address the roles and responsibilities of a Fire / Building Warden, building evacuation procedures, escape routes and muster points, and accounting for all personnel. Courses can utilise the clients own emergency response plan, and the identification of escape routes and muster points at the client’s own premises.
