Our History
M&O Global was founded in 1997 by Rick Parish to provide mobile offshore safety training to the oil & gas industry.
An ex-SAS and search and rescue specialist, Rick realised that one of the biggest issues facing oil & gas operators was getting ready access to competent, well trained staff - no matter the geographic location of the operation.
With many oil & gas fields situated in developing regions, and established safety training based in Europe or the UK, oil & gas companies faced an expensive and logistical nightmare in flying hundreds of staff to receive adequate training.
Having identified offshore safety training as an emerging market, Rick decided to create a mobile safety training service through which he would take internationally accredited training to the locations of the oil & gas operators.
His innovation was to develop an air transportable mobile HUET training module. The HUET module contains all the equipment required to conduct effective training using a swimming pool and qualified instructors to deliver industry standard training.
The HUET module became the first product of Rick’s new offshore safety training company, Marine & Offshore Group. Offering only high quality training and convenience to clients, M&O was an instant success. Demand for M&O’s mobile training was strong, and M&O was soon servicing clients in Indonesia, Kazakhstan, West Africa and South America.
As the M&O business rapidly grew, M&O also expanded its operations opening fixed training centres to complement its mobile training services, but doing so in locations convenient to the oil & gas operators.
Since M&O opened its first fixed training centre in Indonesia, the number of fixed training centres have expanded to more than sixteen, including branches in Kazakhstan, Nigeria, USA, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Singapore, Australia, UAE, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and New Zealand.
M&O has also expanded its mobile training solutions with a new innovation, a fully developed Mobile Offshore Safety Training (MOST) centre. Shipped to a clients location in four sea containers, once erected the MOST unit comes complete with a pool, winch operated HUET and Lifeboat, fire fighting props and smokehouse and is equipped be OPITO audited and approved once on-site.
Able to provide internationally accredited training services to every corner of the globe, M&O Global has gone from a small start-up business to a truly global company.
As the company has expanded, M&O has made some key acquisitions that have expanded its training services, including Quantum Safety and Emergency Care Consultants in New Zealand, First Intervention, Risktec Australasia and Emergency Training Consultants in Australia, and Consulting and Safety Specialists Inc. in the USA.
M&O’s expert training teams have worked with most of the major oil companies and contractors, bringing international training standards to many of the world’s emerging markets including West Africa, South America, the Middle East and the Caspian Regions.
In 2008 the Scottish FTSE 100 company Wood Group acquired M&O Global, strengthening its global networks and providing capital backing for further expansion. M&O Global continues to be headquartered in Fremantle, Western Australia.
